All of our trees are packed in 3 ply cardboard boxes, stapled and taped. You will receive a care leaflet and a packing note in an envelope within the box. For your reference, Plant Passport information will be on the tree label. We use a bamboo cane to ensure the pot does not move and remains as secure as possible during its journey from us to you.

The trees are perfectly safe inside the box for 5 days, but of course unpacking the tree as soon as you can is important. Try to stand the box upright so that the branches and shoots are not crushed. If your order is a citrus variety, the box should be unpacked as soon as possible and the tree placed in a sunlit spot, otherwise leaf fall can occur.

• Tuesdays – all orders received between 10am Thursday and 10am Tuesday, will be despatched on Tuesdays for next day delivery
• Thursdays – all orders received between 10am Tuesday and 10am Thursday, will be despatched on Thursdays for next day delivery

Please note that because our trees are living plants, the nursery can be affected by restrictions of the climate, which can delay things. For example, if the UK suffers a severe cold spell of weather, we may need to take the decision to delay sending out the trees (especially if they are citrus), until conditions improve. This ensures your trees arrive happy and in the very best of health.

We despatch orders twice weekly -Tuesdays and Thursdays. If your tree is despatched on a Thursday and a bank holiday falls on the Friday, your delivery will arrive on the Saturday.

Those trees that are in pots will be perfectly ok in the nursery pot for six months, so long as they are properly watered and fed. You should always plant into a larger pot as soon as you can though.

If the tree is bare rooted, then leave the packing (including the box around the tree) and place it in an unheated building such as a shed or garage. During the winter months the tree will be fine for three weeks . In the spring, you should only keep it out of the soil for 5 days.

That very much depends upon the size of pot and the weather. During the winter (as a rule of thumb), plants need no watering as the rain does it for you. In very dry winter periods, (especially if it is windy), soils can dry out but this will not affect the deciduous trees. If you have citrus, then the leaves will start to droop and you will know to give a small amount. Try one litre to begin with. Do NOT OVER WATER. In the spring and summer, the trees will start to transpire and they can use a lot in very warm weather. We suggest that you try to water once every 5 days and give 2 litres in the spring and up to 5 litres in the high summer. Always err on the side of dryness.

Trees in pots have a small amount of soil proportionate to their roots to absorb plant food, so special attention should be given to their feeding. Our suggestion is to feed regularly and often. In the Spring (as soon as the buds burst out), give a feed of slow release fertiliser. Four weeks after (when the leaves are showing), then give a folia feed. Four weeks after that, give another slow release fertiliser application to the soil and then repeat every four weeks until late August. Folia feed can be given during the summer at every two weeks. DO NOT FEED IN THE WINTER MONTHS.

The house is about the worst place you should bring your fruit tree into. They are not house plants. Deciduous trees (those that lose their leaves in the Autumn) are perfectly ok in temperatures down to -10c, which is very rare in the UK. If you have citrus trees, then these do need protection in temperatures below freezing. A wooden shed gives more than adequate protection, as will a garage, or you can buy large material covers which are very good too. As soon as the temperature is above freezing though you MUST bring them out into the day light.

Your tree is supplied in a 4.5ltr pot, which will be ok for the first 6 months as long as you feed and water it correctly. For a larger pot, then we would recommend going for a 10-15 ltr pot which should last the tree for a further 2 years. After that, then pot on to a 25 or 30 ltr pot. Do remember to make sure that the pots you buy are larger at the top than at the base, otherwise the tree cannot be lifted out and transplanted! We speak from experience!!

No not at all! Citrus leaves will drop during late winter and into the
spring, so it's quite normal. Do remember not to overwater the citrus during the winter as the plant is going into a dormant period of growth and they hardly require any.
